Aquatics International | News: Government Grants ADA Compliance Extension | March 2012.

Responding to concerns from pool industry experts and a hotel/ lodging industry coalition, the White House issued a 60-day extension for compliance with requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The extension was granted March 15 (the date set as the original deadline), two days after Senator Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) introduced a bill which would prevent enforcement of the Americans with Disabilities Act relative to commercial pools and spas. Pool operators now have until May 15, 2012 to comply, but the time could be extended further.

A new pool and spa show in the Southeastern United States will be held Jan. 29–Feb. 1, 2012, at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, Ga.

In addition to two days of exhibits, the show will offer manufacturer-based training courses and industry education for attendees, including APSP certification courses.

The Cobb Galleria Centre is located in northwest Atlanta and is easily accessible from all directions in the Southeast. The accompanying hotels are the Sheraton Suites Galleria and the Embassy suites.
